SVEE-funded programs reach out to teachers in two primary ways…
1. A workshop program
conducted each school year brings training in the use of economic education materials to teachers. The workshops are coordinated with the Virginia Standards of Learning and are conducted by the SVEE-funded teacher consultant. Workshops provide partial credit toward recertification for practicing teachers.
The workshops are held at a variety of venues, including school libraries, computer labs, and the JMU Center for Economic Education on South Main Street in Harrisonburg.
2. The SVEE-funded teacher consultant
travels to the schools for one-on-one consultation and demonstration lessons. Both the workshop program and the consultation program are mutually supportive, with one-on-one visits promoting the workshop program and the workshops generating leads for teacher consulting.
The Center also maintains a lending library of materials for teacher checkout — as well as this web site which will contain material from the Economic Education Awards winners.
