Why Economic Education?

Shenandoah Valley Economic Education PDF Print E-mail
Shenandoah Valley Economic Education, Inc. -- SVEE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in 1983, to promote and enhance economics instruction in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County public schools, K-12, for the Virginia Standards of Learning through the James Madison University Center for Economic Education.
Today its mission is to promote economic literacy in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

SVEE provides the funding necessary to put a full-time teacher consultant in the field to help promote economic literacy. The teacher outreach program of the James Madison University Center for Economic Education is funded by SVEE. Without SVEE's help, economic education in our area would consist only of on-campus offerings at JMU.

Stephanne S. Byrd of Harrisonburg currently serves SVEE as Chairman of the Board. SVEE is governed by a board representing local business and community interests.
