Economic Education Awards competition has been held annually since the early 1970s with sponsorship from the Harrisonburg Rotary Club and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to a generous donation to SVEE, prizes were doubled beginning with the 2006-2007 competition, making the grand prize in the competition now $1000.

Entrants teach an economic education lesson or unit, then write up the results and put together a package of materials for judging. The judging panel includes members from Rotary, the Chamber, SVEE and the local education community. The judging panel meets in June and all units go on to state competition in late summer. Winners are recognized locally at an October meeting of the Harrisonburg Rotary Club.
